Workshop Sculpturing

In the workshop sculpturing you work at your own sculpture in a beautiful environment. No idea what you like to create? No problem, because everywhere you look during this day, there is a lot of art to inspire you. We have many years of experience and we are proud that we have given so many people a new hobby. You will be assisted by Alfred Magwaza or by Nico van Kan.

Alfred Magwaza is not only a great sculptor, but also a very inspiring man. His sculptures can be ranged from traditional "Shona art" to modern art, from realistic to abstract. In Zimbabwe he is the chairman of an Association of sculptors and craftsmen.

Nico van Kan has been educated by African sculptors. Having the aspiration to deliver the sculptures perfect, Nico started to polish and to restore. The next step to make his own sculptures, was not that far anymore. The African way of sculpturing, is the way Nico likes to share with his students. Zimbabwean sculptors say: "You have to talk to the stone". The last years beginners told us, as well as advanced sculptor students told us, that they looked back very satisfied to a cosy day, with a beautiful result.

You can enrol per day. We work from Thursday until Sunday, from May to September. We start at 13.00 p.m. and go on until 17.00 p.m. when the Gardens close. Location: " Tuinen en Kunst op Klein Dennenbosch", Jodendijk 25a, 7211 EL Eefde.

Costs for the workshop are € 30,- per day, per person. Rough stones are available and can be bought at the workshop (Serpentine € 2,-per kilo, Opal and Springstone € 2,50 per kilo). There are plenty of tools, that can be used for free. Of course you are allowed to bring your own tools (except electric tools).

During the workshop we will guide you in the choice of your stone, creating a stable base: the stone has to remain on your block standing independently and straight up. We explain and demonstrate the use of tools, (tooth hammer, sandpaper, chisel, rasp) with attention to safety. And last but not least we have a lot of attention to create the shape.

Workshop Percussion

A workshop percussion is a party where the participants can feel what rhythm does to you. Interplay is the central theme, or team building. Often we play a rumba: party music. The workshop is accompanied with ballophone and vocals. Costs for the workshop are € 150,-per hour per group. Djembé 's can be hired for € 5,-(excl. VAT and travel expenses).

Workshop Dance

Feel and experience what African music and rhythm can do with your body. Bouba Diop is your dance teacher. He dances with style and he gives you time to exercise the movement. Movements are composed together and a nice dance is developed. The workshop dance is supported with live music. Costs for the workshop are € 300,-per hour per group (excl. VAT and travel expenses).
